Islam in Newcastle – Challenge the Stereotype!

Politically Correct?

Politically Correct?

Here are the powers, rushing for a nuclear hour,

In our day, thriving in the arms race – contest.

And their annexation of terror to Islam

Is like putting dictionary words in context.

Today we are faced with many public situations where – if we have any sense – we think twice before saying something that may offend someone. This is known nowadays as political correctness. We are in such a time when there is sensitivity as to which words are used to denote someone’s race, nationality, sexuality etc. And while some would say there is over-sensitivity in how much is being censored, I would agree with the complete denunciation of racist terms once thought of as normal in the past. However, why is there no consistency in this when it comes to faith?

When it comes to giving money…

When it comes to giving money…

by Roszeen Afsar

Excuse the soul that cops to keep, robs to reap while knowing

That his rich-man’s card is gone and he’s gotta pay the taxes on

On the cars he keeps. Destroyed in greed. Exposed and been,

Eyes red-rimmed, holding bags of white dust, he’s become the fiend.

Fall through the hole in his heart and soar through for eternity.

Satan takes him apart, yet he lies in denial of what he sees.

Twelve-year-old Faiza is sitting in her grandparent’s living room among family. It’s a comfortable family occasion. Her uncle has just recently got back from his holiday in Dubai with his wife and kids. They have all come to visit today, bringing gifts – to her delight – for her and her siblings.

Faiza is the oldest; she has two younger brothers and a baby sister. In fact she is the oldest child in the room as her cousins are also around the same age as her brothers. This sets her apart among the children as she feels her place is among the adults. She sits and listens to their conversations while the younger children chase each other around the house.  Faiza can barely hear the adults talking as the kids rush past. She gets up and hushes them, they run off upstairs. She then sits back on the sofa beside her mother and listens again.

Christmas, Christianity and Jesus

Celebrating Christmas & New Year

Watch the following clips and read the following fatwas by the scholars reagrding Christmas.

As Muslims we should know the facts. Apart from originating from pre-Christian pagan & nature worship, the overwhelming evidence that Jesus [pecae be upon him] was NOT born on December 25th and the modern celebrations consist of very little to do with Jesus, peace be upon him and more to do with commercialism, unrighteous action and shirk.

Watch below for the truth.

Is Christmas from Christianity?

Who invented Christmas?

What Islam says about Christmas

I dont celebrate Christmas because I am Christian

Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said in his commentary on the aayah (interpretation of the meaning), “And those who do not witness falsehood (al-zoor)…” [al-Furqaan 25:72]: “As regards the festivals of the mushrikeen: they combine confusion, physical desires and falsehood, there is nothing in them that is of any religious benefit, and the instant gratification involved in them only ends up in pain. Thus they are falsehood, and witnessing them means attending them.”

The Hijab, Uncovered

THe Hijab, Uncovered

One playful morning without much hesitancy
She let fly, unwrapped, unveiled, clothed modesty
What harm it be, to let the world see, how beautifully
The sun makes her hair gleam?
But so her sign came to be;
The sky opened up to cries, thunderous screams.
Let pour to rains and grey shadows unseen,
Casting their disapproval.
She realised the sin of her deed
As if she’d given God a plural
Or a sign she could take from this.
Hijaban empress delicate, let the gentleman miss-
His exposed wills, chains on your wrists
‘Tis only to Allah you submit.
So she guarded her beauty in thankfulness
For what Allah can give He can surely take
Like the beauty from the face
Of the female running through red-lights of disgrace.
You are not of those, your beauty takes to prose
As the purest glow, of noor – yes a light!
What other kind of splendour does He recognise?
There is no other one in sight.

The ‘Hijab’ today is thought to be the head-covering worn by Muslim women. From its actual definition it means ‘to curtain, to veil, to shelter’, and so to observe hijab one must behave accordingly, as well as dressing in the appropriate manner. In doing so, this lends to the wider characteristics a believing woman should uphold such as modesty, dignity and self-honour.

What Does The Swiss Minaret Ban Tell Us About Europe ?

What Does The Swiss Minaret Ban Tell Us About Europe ?

Swiss Minaret Ban Switzerland has decided to ban the building of any new minarets. For many in the political classes both inside Switzerland and further a field across Europe the result of the referendum comes as a shock. I for one was in no way shocked. As a Muslim who has lived most of his life in Europe I know intimately the European capacity for hatred of Islam.

Already the damage limitation exercise has begun. From the higher echelons the Swiss Justice Ministry word is coming out that the ban may be illegal:

“The Swiss justice minister also said the European Court of Human Rights could strike down the Sunday vote, which incurred swift condemnation at home and abroad for banning the towers used to put out the Islamic call to prayer….. …Justice Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf said the ban would come into force immediately, but indicated that it could be overturned. “The ban contradicts the European Convention on Human Rights,” Zurich daily Blick cited Widmer-Schlumpf as saying.” {Source: Ynet News}
