Now who has the last laugh? That is the question; I only have pity for those who cannot see reality and who were so glib to buy into what the media and political troubleshooters were saying about the Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Consider this:

As a BBC report notes, at least some of the Mumbai attackers were not Indian and certainly not Muslim.Pappu Mishra, a cafe proprietor at the gothic Victorian Chattrapati Shivaji Terminus railway station, described “two sprightly young men dressed in black” with AK47s who were “foreign looking, fair skinned.”Gaffar Abdul Amir, an Iraqi tourist from Baghdad, saw at least two men who started the firing outside the Leopold Cafe. “They did not look Indian, they looked foreign. One of them, I thought, had blonde hair. The other had a punkish hairstyle. They were neatly dressed,” Amir told the BBC.

Day of Aashoora – Sunday 27th December 2009

Official Decision and Announcement of the High Judiciary Council of Saudi Arabia…

Just a short time ago, Fatwa-Online was informed of the official decision and announcement of the High Judiciary Council (HJC) of Saudi Arabia regarding the beginning of the new Hijrah year – 1431.

1 Muharram 1431 will be tomorrow, Friday 18 December 2009, and 10 Muharram (‘Aashooraa) 1431 will fall on Sunday December 27 2009.

09 muharram 1431 = Saturday 26 December 2009

10 muharram (day of ‘Aashooraa) 1431 = Sunday 27 December 2009

11 muharram 1431 = Monday 28 December 2009

……….

Abu Hurayrah (radhi-yAllaahu ‘anhu) said:

The Messenger of Allaah (sal-Allaahu ‘alayhe wa sallam) said:

((The best of fasting after Ramadhaan is fasting Allaah’s month of Muharram)), reported by Muslim.

That which is recommended for the Muslim on the day of ‘Aashooraa.

Question: What is obligatory upon the Muslim to do on the day of ‘Aashooraa.. (tenth day of Muharram), and is Zakaat al-Fitr obligatory (on that day)

Response: It is legislated for the Muslim to fast on the day of ‘Aashooraa., for that which has been confirmed that the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) ordered fasting on (the day of) ‘Aashooraa., however, when (the fasting of) Ramadhaan was obligated, whoever preferred to fast (‘Aashooraa.) did so and whoever preferred not to (do so) did not. And there is no Zakaat al-Fitr (to be paid) on the day of ‘Aashooraa. as there is on `Eed al-Fitr after the month of Ramadhaan.

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

The permissibility of fasting on the day of ‘Aashooraa. only

Question: Is it permissible to fast ‘Aashooraa. just one day?

Response: It is permissible to fast the day of ‘Aashooraa. (tenth day of Muharram) just one day, however, it is better to fast the day before it or the day after it (also) and this is the established Sunnah of the Prophet (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) who said:

((If I am (still) here next year, then certainly I shall fast the ninth (day of Muharram))), [(reported by) Muslim, Ahmad, Ibn Maajah, Ibn Abee Shaybah, at-Tahaawee, al-Bayhaqee and al-Baghawee]. Ibn ‘Abbaass (radhi-yallaahu ‘anhumaa) said:

((along with the tenth (day of Muharram))).

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad (sal-Allaahu `alayhe wa sallam) and his family and his companions.

The Believers are but a single Brotherhood: So make peace and reconciliation between your two brothers; and fear Allah, that ye may receive Mercy. (49:10)
Oh mankind! We created you from a single of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that ye may know each other. Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted. (49:13)
