They are certified by the Halal Food Authority (HFA). Please be aware that HFA have very controversial standards and criteria for Halal. They are not represented by any reputable scholars of the UK. They allow machine slaughter (confirmed recently by HFA on Islam channel) without the need of a Muslim slaughterman to slaughter the chickens/poultry manually. How the tasmiyah (Bismillah) is read (a condition of halal slaughter), only Allah knows!   Be careful what you eat as it affects your spirituality, deeds and actions.   Remember! To eat KFC is not compulsory, to eat Halal is! Be sure before any finger lickin’ visit! The HFA recently have updated their website stating in bold text that mechanical slaughter is allowed. I would ask you to contact them for the details of the dodgy fatwa they are relaying this from. The Ulema internationally regardless of sect are unanimous that machine slaughter is not acceptable in halal slaughter.
