Islam in America: Muslims in the Slave Trade

This documentary looks at some of the earliest Muslims in America during the times of the Slave Trade for over 300 years and the remaining descendants of Prince Ibrahim Abdur-Rahmaan [a Muslim Slave] who was freed and left for Liberia centuries ago.

The findings include that up to a third of the African slaves may have been Muslim and reveals facts such as Thomas Jefferson having a Qur’an. I wonder what Ameicans would make of the historical respect paid to Islam and the Qur’an through sculptured friezes in some key US institutions?
